Heritage Perth will benefit from a generous grant from Lotterywest to help with publicity and promotion of its exciting Heritage Days weekend, which takes place on 13/14 November.

The Executive Director of Heritage Perth, Richard Offen, said, “We are most grateful to Lotterywest for their continued support of our Heritage Days.”

“The inaugural Heritage Perth Heritage Day last November was an incredible success with thousands of people converging on the streets, buildings, parks, theatres, museums, libraries and hotels of central Perth to celebrate its heritage. On the strength of last years success, we have decided to run the even over a whole weekend. Thanks to the generous support of City of Perth and Lotterywest, Heritage Days will probably be one of the biggest heritage celebrations the City has ever seen.”

Heritage Perth Heritage Days is a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating history and heritage that is – the City of Perth.

The program includes rarely seen tours of Perth buildings; Council House with its display of Mayoral regalia, The Western Australian Club (founded in 1893) and a sneak preview of the new Mercy Heritage Council Centre in the beautiful Sisters of Mercy Convent.

For those who like to be outside, you can ‘Meet the Gardener’ with a Guided Walking Tour through the spectacular Queens Gardens, Government House Garden and WA’s oldest public garden – Stirling Gardens.

Enjoy a guided tour through the 1870 Perth Town Hall before partaking in the Tea Dance with internationally acclaimed Len Brauer at the piano.

There are also indigenous walks and activities, a Military Band at the RSL Club of WA, heritage lunches at The Melbourne Hotel (part of Perth’s landscape since 1897) and at the Royal Perth Hospital Museum you can see the first ever X-Ray equipment in Australia.

Families will especially enjoy the visiting the Old Central Fire Station (opened in 1901), the Francis Burt Law Museum and the Local Studies Library who will all host activities specifically for children.
