Family HistoryHave you ever wondered about your family history? Where you came from? What your ancestors were like? Where they lived? Would you like to discover a little bit more about your family?

Researching family history has never been more popular, although it can sometimes be hard to know just where to start. If you are thinking about tracing you roots, then some of the events that are taking place during National Family History Week could be just the place to start.

From 1st to 9th August, there will be many events held Australia-wide to celebrate family history and family history research. Visit http://www.familyhistoryweek.org.au/ to find out what is happening in your area.

Here in Perth there will be an Open Day at the Western Australian Genealogical Society (WAGS) library at 48 May St Bayswater on Sunday 9th August. On that day you can find out more about the Society and have a look at their library. You will be amazed at the vast amount of information available from around the world and there will also be the opportunity to talk to people about family history in a friendly and informal atmosphere. For further information contact WAGS on 9271 4311 or visit their website at http://wags.org.au/o/

The State Library of Western Australia (SLWA) is also celebrating National Family History Week in conjunction with WAGS.
