The winners of the City of Perth’s Inaugural History Award were announced on Sunday 18 November 2012. The Lord Mayor Lisa M Scaffidi presented each History Award entrant with a certificate and a bound copy of the entries. Mrs Hilaire Natt won the Inaugural Award with her entry “Reflections of the past: memories of Bon Marche – a quality department store 368, 370 and 372 Hay Street Perth 1884 to 1954â€
The History Award is an initiative of the History Centre, conducted in an effort to generate interest in the history of the City of Perth and to encourage members of the community to research historical aspects of the City.
Copies of this year’s History Award entries are available to read at the History Centre. The History Centre is located next to the Perth City Library at 140 William Street, Perth and is open between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
