Heritage Perth Executive Director, Richard Offen retires

18 October 2017

“A perfect weekend and a perfect time to retire”

The 9th annual Perth Heritage Days saw record numbers enjoy the myriad of activities; open doors, performances, exhibitions, museums, walks and talks across this past weekend.
Richard Offen, Executive Director of Heritage Perth said “The city was humming heritage throughout the weekend, with thousands of people of all ages motivated to see our city from a new perspective. It was a stupendous weekend with Perth weather at its best and I feel this is the perfect time to announce my retirement.”

“I have counted it a great privilege to be the inaugural director of Heritage Perth and steer it through its formative years. I think it is fair to say the organisation has made a huge impact on the way the heritage of Perth is perceived by the general-public.”

“Heritage Perth will go from strength to strength and continue to reach out to a large cross-section of the community through its many exciting projects, of which last weekend’s very successful Perth Heritage Days is a fine example. The response has reinforced what I have always believed, people are very interested in all aspects of our city’s heritage; social, cultural and built.”
“I have had a huge amount of fun changing people’s perceptions of heritage and feel content knowing I leave the not-for-profit organisation that is Heritage Perth, in very capable hands.”

Richard Offen and the team at Heritage Perth thank our Principal Sponsor, The City of Perth, supporting sponsors; Lotterywest, CFMEU and the Heritage Council of WA, our media partners; 882 6PR, The West Australian, all the advertisers in our printed programme, everyone at the participating venues, our wonderful volunteers and the people of Perth for their enthusiastic support and enormous interest in Perth’s heritage: we could not have done it without you!
