Late last year the Department for Sustainability, Water, Population and Communities announced a 2011-2012 grant program named, ‘Your Community Heritage’.

This program was offered as a new approach to supporting and protecting Australia’s heritage, promoting the importance of heritage to the community and its role in bringing people together, creating community identity.

Funding was intended to provide opportunities for communities to celebrate their own local heritage. Your Community Heritage is about broadening our understanding and support of heritage and the organisations, individuals, volunteers and communities, who protect and manage so many of our unique heritage places and stories.

Heritage Perth is delighted to announce that our application for a grant was successful and the funds provided will assist with presenting FREE events during this year’s Perth Heritage Days. “The grant will be used to provide better signage for each venue taking part in Heritage Days and enable us to present even more ‘hands-on’ activities in which people can participate.” Said Heritage Perth’s Executive Director, Richard Offen.

We thank the department for making this funding opportunity available.
